I spent the afternoon brewing a generously hopped red ale. A few weeks ago, I was anticipating a 3-week trip to India for work, so this wasn’t a planned occurrence. But, economy being what it is, the trip has been postponed, so here I am, spending February in Seattle instead of Rajasthan. So, being that this batch is a hoppy red ale and it exists because I’m not in India, I give you Raj’s Red:

  • 7 lbs light malt extract
  • 12 oz 40°L crystal malt
  • 4 oz 80°L crystal malt
  • 2 oz roasted barley
  • 2 oz fuggles (4.6% AA)
  • 1.5 oz Yakima goldings (finishing hops, 4.2% AA)
  • 8 oz dark brown sugar (last 5 minutes of boil)
